Look at that Helmet! Upland Pride!

He was issued his equipment last night. Official practice starts tomorrow morning at 8am. It's the beginning of hell week! He's going to be sore, he's going to be tired, but he's going to make it through this next week.

The reward... They get the wear their pads and full gear after these 10 hours are up. So I'll be cheering him on, packing fruits, lots of fluids, checking his sugars, keeping him healthy and hydrated, keeping his asthma under control.

Daniel says he can do it! He's ready. He's going through a growth spurt right now. Shorts are getting short, knees are sore, he's changing into a man this summer. Voice is cracking. It's time to grow up son.

While big brother is practicing hard in the humid and hot sun, little brother is catching a nap. Thunderstorms around us in the mountains and the boys are working hard.

Upland Pop Warner Chargers! Ready for this season 2015. Cornerback and Tightend. Proud Type1 Diabetic Mama!

Soak City at Knotts Berry Farm

Landon had a blast! He never wants to leave he kept saying. He loved it all.
And another slide ...
And he's off to another one...
Daniel and I relaxed on a lounge chair. I can't ride the slides and he didn't want to leave me so he stayed with Mommy. He hates his smile right now from his extractions for his braces and I told him it's ok my smile isn't the same right now either so we can laugh together.

The guys did go in the tidal wave pool and Landon loved that too. I have a very brave 3 year old. Roller coasters, log rides in the front row. I mean really. I wasn't this brave. I'm glad he is willing to try anything.

Time for lunch. Landon said I'm hungry and time for Daniel to put his pump back on. I use a special cover on his inset so when he's swimming it doesn't get wet. It helps in football too keep the needle in place.

Landon kept telling me eat Mommy. So I shared a couple chicken strips with him. He's such a sweet little boy and so considerate of others. He's going to do great in preschool in the fall.

We stayed another hour and we left. We were home by 2pm. The lines for the slides were too long and the kiddie lagoon just got too crowded. Perfect timing for a early Sunday outing. Since we have season passes I don't feel pressured to stay for an entire day when it's miserably crowded.

Football Updates

Daniel is absolutely happy at Upland Pop Warner. They have been practicing 3 days a week now and start 5 days a week in full uniform since he's all payed up August 1st. I can't believe it! First scrimmage vs. Pasadena is on the 15th then Eastvale Corona right after and his first league game is on September 5th, 2015, Labor Day weekend and practices go three nights a week during the school year. Playoffs are in San Diego and Championship is in Florida! This team is Champions from last season. I've been fundraising already and Poker night is this Saturday night. This team keeps us busy. But, he's happy. It's his turn to be athletic and enjoy sports just like his big sister did.

His asthma is acting up like hers so he's on meds just like her. His blood sugar too, but he's pushing. He won't give up. He tells me lots of type 1 diabetics play football at Upland High School and I'm going to too. Give it your all son!

I have some video, but I can't seem to upload it. It's practice for now, but the boys are good. Go Upland!

Landon giving mommy kisses on the blanket eating fruit at practice. My favorite part.

His silly smile when I say cheese lol

Daniel got the play, but they shouldn't be tackling yet! Boys will be boys.

Lucy and I waiting together as Landon is on the playground to the right and Daniel on the field to the left. Lucy will bark with Daniel's blood sugar is low. She has woken him up in he middle of the night barking at him and pulling his covers and his bg54. She's a Maltese/Poodle and pretty smart. The vet says poodles have very sensitive noses.

August football gets more interesting. It's exciting. I'm proud of him for all his hard work in school and all his hard work on the field. I still have a few things to buy for the season. His dues were expensive this year. But, completely worth it. Mommy loves you Daniel. Here's to an amazing season!

OC County Fair opening day

The boys and I enjoyed opening day at the fair. We had a tough start getting there. Daniel was having lots of lows and I had to keep stopping at 7eleven, AmPm, Texaco, Taco Bell, and try to find parking. Thank goodness I got off the freeway and took the streets to the fair.

Finally, after talking to Children's Hospital we decided to make him a low profile for the day and run his insulin at 60% for the day. I didn't care how much money I had spent. I didn't even count it. When your child is in danger, you don't pay attention you just do what you have to do to save their life. His Bg was staying between 50-60 for over 3 hrs. It was unsafe to turn around and go home in traffic. We were in Costa Mesa over 1.5 hrs away in no traffic. Once we got his profile changed we made the best of the day and the safest place for him was at the fair and UC Irvine Medical Center was right down the street.

Landon loved all the animals. It was so clean compared to any fair we had been to.

He said this one looks like Bah Bah black Sheep just not black lol

He walks like a big boy now and hates his stroller. He loved the reptiles. Especially the snakes.
He thought the snake was soft and he said he wants one. Mommy is not so sure about that request. One thing at a time Landon.

Next Landon and I decided to go inside the butterfly exhibit.

His face! They were all over my hair and the back of my hair. I had no idea. My backpack was covered. When we were leaving they stopped me to remove all the butterflies from my hair, clothes, and backpack. I couldn't feel them. This was the best experience for Landon. He loved catching them.

We didn't stay too long after this. We had a foot long corn dog meal and walked the exhibits. Watched the fireworks and headed home. My phone died so I wasn't able to take more pictures. We are going back so the boys can see the rest.

They did try bee honey sticks in different flavors. They weren't very fond of them. They played carnival games, but we avoided rides due to Daniel's blood sugar. It was fun for the first trip.

Nickelodeon Kids Sports Awards

Daniel and his football team was invited to the taping of the show live and it was a long, but fun day for the boys. Even if I had to buy a bright UCLA tank top and turn it inside out, I didn't care. Anything to make sure my little boy had a great time. Daniel even had an escort on the floor. He was right at center stage in front of where the stars were seated so he could see Stephen Curry, Ciara, Derek Jeter, and all the games Russell Wilson was doing live right up front. How exciting! You can catch him on the show a few times too. I'm glad he had an awesome time.
The boys excited to go inside the show in their bright Nickelodeon colors. It was a warm day outside and we had to wait over 3 hours to get inside.

There they are filling the kids into the bottom of the court before the show went live at 5pm.

This Mom got her seat right behind the athletes and first award goes to Steph Curry!
It's so exciting to be so close! Go Steph!

There's Carmelo Anthony and Michael Strahan helping him high five all the kids to get into the Guiness book of world records. There's my Daniel!

And here come Derek Jeter to get ready for his award
Mr. November had this Mom star struck!

Marshawn Lynch getting his award from Melo

Another award for Steph Curry this time with little Rylie

Derek Jeter got his legend award and as he finished his speech for the kids...
He was slimmed...................
The kids loved it! They had a great time

Until next year!
