Busy Weeks

I haven't found much time to give to my blog. It's been a very demanding schedule for our family. Daniel has had five day a week football practices for over a month and our weekends we try to connect as a family. It's been very strenuous on Daniel's body adjusting to the routine.

Monitoring his blood sugars with the amount of conditioning, weather conditions, plus the uncontrollable nature of the disease itself at a moments notice. We've gone from bg391 to a sudden drop of bg31 in less than an hour. I thank God that he wasn't passed out on the field and we didn't need to call 911, he wasn't having a seizure, and we didn't need to use a Glucagon injection through his thigh to save his life.

He loves the sport and is having an amazing season as usual. He's suffered many bumps, lumps, bruises, but he's not giving up. That's dedication. He removes his pump during contact. His inset always seems to fall off, detach, come loose and I have to do a site change more often. Even with bloody elbows that drip and ooze blood, he says he's fine. A true boy!

The new school year has started. He's in accelerated classes and an AVID student. Life is busy. His schedule alone keeps me on my toes. My calendar is full.

Then you add our toddler and his schedule now, well all I can say is I am glad I redecorated and simplified my home. Less dusting, less things to tidy up, simple and clean for this busy family. I am not home enough now with all my activities for the boys to have all the extras. Plus, they say change is good. I'm devoting my extra time to my toddler. I have lots of activities we've done that I want to share, but I'd like to keep them private for the moment. My toddler is precious to my heart.

I wouldn't give up my mommy duties for the world. So here's to a great football season, happy blood sugars, and a great school year! I'll be posting all about Daniel and how he's doing pumping and football. Experiencing Jr. High and the independence that comes with not being monitored like he was in elementary school. He's enjoying it so far. He was always more mature and hated going to the office every few hours. The pump gives him much more freedom. I have to trust him, and of all my children he's my most responsible.
