Birthday BBQ for Alesia

Happy Birthday big girl! I love relaxing and enjoying our Saturday by the pool. Your brothers love the time with you! And so did the rest of us.

Selfie stick time! Lol

20 years old now and finally out of your teen years. My big girl. I'm happy to spend the week with you. It's been awesome. We all miss you and love you so much. It's almost summer time and your Birthday is always a reminder of the warm summer months coming up.

Singing Happy Birthday to Sissy with her favorite strawberry shortcake. Low carbs so even Daniel enjoyed it. His blood sugar was great today. We tried a new inset and it stuck much better onto his skin. A day of swimming turned out to be a breeze for Daniel. Thank goodness. God must have made today a special day just for us to spend together.

It's Saturday at Grandma Terry's for a BBQ to celebrate birthdays! Lots of food to grill and the weather was in the 90' so throw the kids in the pool. I'm really missing being in a house now. I can't have anything at the apartment I need the room and a yard. It's very frustrating. I'm regretting the apartment every single day. Love my neighborhood, just hate apartment lifestyle. Thank goodness my mother in law opens her home to us whenever we want it. She's so thoughtful. Thank you!

Bar-b-que, tamales, menudo, baked beans, fresh fruit, chips, dip, swimming and quality time. Perfect family time. Lots of food as usual. The boys in the pool as usual. Sometimes I think they would live in the water all day long if they could.

Landon and his usual cuteness. My water baby, my freezing baby, and my puppy baby. His antics make us giggle. He has such a huge personality. He's just a funny child. Easy going and loves to just enjoy himself.

My birthday girl! I love you to pieces. I hope you had a nice and relaxing day. I'm so proud of the woman you've become. I enjoy you as an adult. I'm happy to spend this day with you.

We all had fun and lots of sun. Probably way to much sun. We will see today. I'm sure we Landon, myself and Alesia will be red lol we are always the ones sunburnt. Fun day and the weather was perfect. Happy Birthday again big girl. Your brothers especially Daniel loved spending it with you!

He's a Pumper

It's official! He's a pumper. I've been so busy with the end of school year activities. Night time basal testing have finally ended and he is doing great. Site changes happen often as we get bad sites and insulin just isn't going into his body or sometimes the inset doesn't  enter his body correctly.

This happened at 7:30am during a site change before school and he said Mom it doesn't feel right it hurts. Thank goodness he can tell me right away that it is feels like it's wrong. I reinjected another and he made it to school.

We've had a time this week where it fell out at school. No rhyme or reason. Just drove to school and reattach it. We have tried a 6mm metal needle catheter instead of the plastic one, but after a day Daniel said that began to hurt. So, I took that out. In one weekend, I changed his site 5 times. But, I'll do whatever it takes to make sure he is comfortable.

I don't look at the cost anymore. I don't look at stress of the pump anymore. I look at the good it can be for Daniel in the long run. Most of all if he is happy. Once he says he doesn't want it anymore, then we will return to the injections.

Landon is so sweet and will tell big brother check your sugar and brother change your pump. I guess it's true, it's all Landon knows. He thinks every big brother has diabetes.

Thank God and Dr. Hathout for letting me know I've done everything right and I recognize what to do and how to care for him on the pump. That's such an honor. Now I can have some normalcy back into my life. I learned, I studied, I woke up every night as ordered at 12 midnight, 3am, 6am. Faxed paperwork weekly since October and then daily since he's been on the pump. Hard work and dedication for my son is all worth it. Tandem t-slim touchscreen pump is finally his newest medical regimen.

Mommy loves you so much Daniel.

Science Fair 2015

Visiting Daniel's Science Fair this morning and it's so exciting to see all his classmates with their projects. They are the sweetest students. I really like this class this year in Upland. Every time I've spent in the classroom with the students has been a pleasure.

This is the 6th grade Science Fair for Cabrillo Elementary 2015

He said he was bored just sitting there waiting to explain his project. Kids don't ask much. Mostly adults or teachers. He was happy to see myself and Landon visit. Then he noticed his big sister Faith turn the corner. He smiled. I told him we were coming. Alesia didn't make it. She was still asleep at home. Daniel and Landon started their brother bonding as usually. Stuck like glue as always.

Suddenly Principle Benson came to personally see Daniel's project. She came to only see a few special ones and his was one of them. I'm so proud of you Daniel. She said she really liked his. Awesome job Daniel!

He really makes me proud with the amount of pride he takes in his work and his ability to retain the information he learns. He can speak to an adult without being nervous. It's wonderful to see that amount of bravery in a child. I'm extremely proud. He's going to accomplish so much in school and life.

You make me proud! You are an amazing young man. You can accomplish so much. I am blessed to be your mom. Your so absolutely smart! I love you so much. Awesome project son.

My Girl is home

My big girl is really turning 20! Wow! She's just a baby in so many ways. I still just see the same little girl I always have. She's just as beautiful as always.

We have fun making paratha for breakfast and pot roast for dinner. The girls sleep in on the sofa bed while Daniel is at school. He has an early out week so it's perfect, he's home by 1pm.

Singapore mixed with American food in our home all the time. The kitchen is always busy. Something is always cooking. That's the best part of having a busy home, a happy bunch of hungry kids. Makes me laugh at how much food I go through in a week. Plus, all the unique taste buds. Thank goodness my very own have gotten use to the variety and love it all. Landon loves his parathas too. This week it's Sissy's menu. Since it's her Birthday week.

Plus her favorite spinach pasta with tomatoes and bacon and a huge box of her favorite mangos. We are always cooking, eating, spending time together, and it's wonderful. I'm enjoying every mommy moment I get with her.

Even Lucy is enjoying her days relaxing on the sofa bed with the girls.

I'm happy. I thought I'd be in Arizona ,but Daniel isn't out of school yet and Alesia is off work so she came this way instead. As long as we are together and I get to spend her birthday with her, that's the simple moments that matter.

Pot Roast for dinner as requested.  Tomorrow we start the birthday celebrations. What an exciting week it's been.

Siblings playing on the sofa bed. The giggles from Landon are contagious. I have to admit, it's like they are twins in another lifetime. They act the same, eat the same, hate to nap, like to sleep in, love their fruits and cheese, and are candy eaters. Both have the same silliness and amount of energy. It's a mini version of her all over again and must sleep with someone. She is a Gemini and he past it by a few days. We all still giggle at their strange resemblance. Pretty funny.

It's a full house. Bunk beds full, sofa bed full and Sissy said she didn't want to squeeze next to the crazy little toddler. It's a happy full house. Good night.

Blood sugars are good. Still checking all night. This Mama needs her sleep.

Here's to another great week with my kids. Heading to Knotts Berry Farm on Saturday. Time for some thrill rides and fun.

Science Project - How carbs effect me

This years project is complete. Lots of data was recorded in that little lime green note book, lots of fingers were poked, lots of meals were measured, carbs counted, and we all ate together as a family including snacks just as if we were diabetics, but the only difference was we were able to not finish our food, skip meals, drink what we wanted, have seconds without insulin or measurements  or even grab something completely different if we chose since we weren't the controlled subject.

I don't really eat much so it didn't really bother me. My husband loves his breakfast so of course he would have his seconds with a breakfast burrito or a skillet. Or for dinner a slice of cake for dessert. Always his favorite bowl of cereal before bed. Daniel has his sugar free desserts of jello or a Popsicle. I'm not a dessert person so I'd have nothing. I know pretty boring for a Type 1 Mom. I'm not a sugar lover and I'm a water drinker.

Daniel did all his typing, charting, gluing, organizing on his own this year. He only chose to use dinner numbers to place on his board. But, chose to graph the days. It was hard to glue letters and his toddler brother Landon wanted to help and Daniel was such a sweet brother to allow him to help glue. Daniel kept saying it's my data and presentation that matters and I can say Landon helped me. What an awesome big brother!

Landon was just as proud of his project too he said with a smile and wanted to take his picture with his project not knowing he was messing it up at least 5 times. But, we had lots of fun. Stayed up late, had lots of laughs, that's what learnings about. Making mistakes while making graphs, brainstorming ideas, doing your own work, and being proud of your own work.

My silly happy boys. Proud of everything they do together. Brothers will be brothers. I'm proud of you Daniel! Learning about Type 1 Diabetes and why carbs are important is the first step in understanding for yourself about what it does to your body. Teaching others spreads the word and is the gift of opening the eyes to what Type 1 Diabetes is all about. Great job son on your own work!

Even little Landon says my brother has Diabetes and he's sick with pride. Your doing a great job in this little world of yours. #proudtype1mom

Happy 5 Year Anniversary

Happy 5 Year Anniversary to my husband. It feels like so many more years have passed together. You are a remarkable husband. You fill my life with joy, you are supportive, you are filled with integrity, your devoted to our marriage and our children, your my encouragement, and my shoulder to cry on when I need it. I look back at 5 years with no regrets and that's the best part. You bring laughter to my days. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Today, I thought I'd take a walk down memory lane to our wedding day, 5 years ago...

My life with you has been a walk in a park! I love you!
